Amanda Atkins  has been happily retired from the reinsurance industry for many years   

Creative Arts 

My  interest in the creative arts was sparked as a relative youngster with a venture into sponsorship of  Music Theatre London , specialising in bringing classic opera and related topics to new audiences.   Some of those we translated into film including La Boheme and can be purchased via the film catalogue links. 

That branched into light drama including In Love with Alma Cogan  working with Capriol films   which can be accessed via the  film catalogue links  before deciding to get involved in a bigger way with Provenance   a drama  produced by Afinia  and largely set in France , which went on to win Best Film and Best Supporting Actor awards at the Madrid International Film Festival with nominations for the lovely and talented Charlotte Vega as best actress.  Provenance is still getting great reviews from the most diverse countries where it has been released. 

The relationship  with Parkland Pictures began from there and culminated in the Nov  2019 agreement to collaborate more formally including distribution  of The Biggest Little Farm  and myriad other films as shown in the film catalogue links.

Since Provenance, I  have commissioned writing from drama, to horror  to comedy from promising talented people to help  them achieve their goals in film making and provided  funding to new films in horror ,  drama  and documentaries that need to be told- especially in the nutrition space . Some of that is purely philanthopic, some more commerical in nature.  It depends on the project.   In all of them Ben is my sounding board and guru . 

The Creeping, has finally been officially released  after a Covid hiatus.   For this film I worked with   the talented  Jamie Hooper  and Helen Miles  from Cryptograph and Ben Hecking, this time as cinematographer.   Its great to see it having won Best Film , Best Indie Film and Best Director at Kansas Panic Fest  at the start of its run and the Dracula Award towards the end !  The Creeping is now being sold internationally appearing in cinema across the world 

 Haar is our latest venture    Ben is director ably supported by a largely Hungarian crew and  starring Kate Kennedy, currently receiving acclaim as Kai-125 https://decider.com/2022/05/19/halo-season-1-finale-kai-125-kate-kennedy/

Haar was one of the lucky films to win a place at the 2023 London BFI Film Festival 

Nutrition Health & Sustainability.

A personal diagnosis of Type 2 diabetes rather focuses one's mind.  In my case very heavily on the role of nutrition.  You can find out more about how I reversed my own T2 diabetes  ( 5 years now) on the health tab. which also includes some key sources of information for you to look things up yourself 

From a personal perspective I'm getting on a bit , so I'm focused on helping others get things off the ground too and helping sort out the global nutrition mess we are faced with . 

The core of good nutrition is quality foods including animal proteins produced from grazing on  nutrient rich soils.     It is fortunate that the very same elements that create good health for humans  and  the animals that rely upon us , is also good for the planet.  The Biggest Little Farm and Sacred Cow demonstrate that wonderfully well.    Its a pity that the current narrative says the precise opposite! 

 I have become involved in a number of nutrition related ventures including Fat Fiction,   ( T2)  Fat : a Documentary with Vinnie Torterich ( trainer to the stars !)  the Diabetes Solution ( T1)  and the much anticipated Food Lies series out soon. 

The goal for FAT FICTION was to get  it out far and wide.  We are pleased that we are now getting close to   4 million views on you tube having now made it freely available.   Interest in metabolic health as the cause of underlying disfunction is growing both scientifically and amongst the general public. Its a pity that public health is largely still sticking its head in the  sand!  

I have also become  a founding member of the Society of Metabolic Health Practitioners, based in the US and focusingoon the role of nutrition in achieving metabolic health (link below)   I support the Citizens Science Foundation project looking into the role of LDL cholesterol in a low carb context  "   Lean Mass Hyper Responders " .  That project should help clarify whether " high cholesterol " is really the cause of heart disease , though again whether anyone will believe it , will be interesting to see.  I am proud to have worked  with Nina Teicholz on the reverse T2 Foundation  a legacy project for Dr Sarah Hallberg,  a young, slim, fit, non smoker who fell victim to lung cancer now increasing particuarlarly in younger women .  Dr Sarah is a legend in the nutrition world with her TedX talk now nearing 10 million views.     This porject developed into a 4.5 hour lecture course hosted  by the cardiometabolic congress .  Free to all, learn how to reverse T2 diabetes yourself !

Finally I'm a cat lover, and through C.L.A.W.S.  I'm an active member of the local animal welfare community having now rehomed more than 100 .   My home is full of pregnant mums all  taking advantage of a luxury stay  chez Amanda to give birth in peace and now to even more unwell cats taking advantage of our facilities to be treated for and recover from serious illness .

The question I get asked most often is " but what about my cholesterol ?   won't that go up on a Low Carb. diet. 

It might, it might not .  Studies by Virta Health in the US show that most health markers improve and LDL cholesterol could go either way .  read the research for yourself here

For some people LDL does go up.   For some, particularly those who are lean and athletic  by a lot.
